Prophetic Word for 2008

The number “8” in scripture represents “new beginnings”. This year will be just that, a year of new beginnings. Many came to a crossroads in their lives in 2007 and saw much change in their lives. This year will bring about the new season and new positions that God has for his people.

God is releasing fresh revelation about his nature this year. For many, 2008 will be a year of upgrading their relationship with God. God is going to take his people deeper into the truths of who He really is. God really is asking his people in this season, “who do you say that I am?” and releasing the kind of revelation that does not come from man, but from the Father alone. 2008 will be a year of knowing God beyond man’s theology and traditions. God is setting up divine confrontations with his spirit this year where we must wrestle with God and the truth he reveals in order to get our blessing just as Jacob did. Genesis 32:28 says, "Then the man said, 'Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with men and have overcome." This is a year of overcoming. Addictions, emotional issues, unforgiveness, fear, depression and other past areas of defeat will be brought down this year as God releases the Joy of the Lord.

In Nehemiah Chapter 8, there is a returning to the Lord upon the completion of the rebuilding of the wall. As Ezra reads from the Law of God, the people begin to weep as they understand how they have failed God. But in verses 9-12 it says:

Then Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who were instructing the people said to them all, "This day is sacred to the LORD your God. Do not mourn or weep." For all the people had been weeping as they listened to the words of the Law. Nehemiah said, "Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is sacred to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength."

God is releasing his joy in 2008. Where there has been mourning and failure in the past. Where there has been loss and spiritual apathy. As the hearts of God’s people are turned back to God there will be incredible joy and celebration. As chaos continues to overwhelm the world, God’s people will be marked by their joy. The natural realm would call for fear, sorrow and panic as the world continues into chaos, but the Church will celebrate this year and walk in joy even despite persecution. God’s joy breeds strength and the church must walk in this strength. God’s joy revitalizes, rejuvenates, restores, and rewards those who walk in it.

This year will be the year of the Roar of the Lion of Judah. God’s roar is being released this year and when the lion roars everything stands at attention. God is roaring and causing every power to stand at attention and make way. His roar is releasing the prophetic promises that have been stored up in heaven awaiting their due season and moment of fulfillment. We will see many of the promises spoken over our lives fulfilled in this year and season. Remember, 2008 is not the year of completion, but of new beginnings. Many things ended last year, but this year is about new things beginning and being set into motion. Things that are birthed in this year will carry over for years to come. Many promises and prophetic words spoken over our lives will be made manifest this year and begin to unfold and be fulfilled. They will propel us into our destiny and give us spiritual momentum for the future. We must ride this momentum into future seasons in order to accomplish what God has prepared for us. He is giving us a wave of momentum for his purposes.

God is going to pour out fresh and creative ideas in this year. Ideas for ministry, evangelism, business, and media. This is a year of stepping out in faith into your calling and destiny. Matthew Chapter 6 will be an important chapter this year. We must learn to trust that Father is our provider. We cannot worry about our needs being met and allow that to keep us from walking in our calling. We must step out in faith, trusting that Father knows what we need and will provide all our needs because He loves us.

Get ready for amazing things this year! Don’t look at the world or the natural realm and get discouraged by the troubled times we are living in. Look to God and trust him with all your heart. He is in control and knows what you need and how to get it to you. 2008 will be an exciting year! Let’s receive all God has for us. Amen!
